This beautiful Mid-Century Modern, Van Gaard, Drip-Oil Steamer Paddleboat Painting is a perfect conversation piece. The colors are amazing!
This is a very large painting - one that you would have seen hung over the back of a couch. It measures 29" x 53" overall, including the wood frame.
It is signed "Van Gaard" in the lower right corner, which, apparently, was a collective pseudonym for the artists who worked at Vanguard Studios in California in the 1960s. There is a sticker on the back for Van Guard Studios and "180-C" written on the paper at the bottom. The back is covered with brown paper, and the painting hangs by a metal wire stretched across.
There are some scratches/scuffs in the background paint; one area of damage to an oil drip; nicks/dents and scratches to the wood frame; tears to the paper on the back; and a loose staple on the back. There are no holes in the painting itself.
