Adoptable Animals

The Lawrence County Humane Society provides shelter and love for many abandoned, neglected and surrendered dogs and cats.  These loving pets come in all sizes, ages, colors and personalities!  Some are in need of special care, but all are just looking for a family to love them forever.

As you scroll down the home page or click on Adoptable Animals in the "Labels" section in the left side bar, you will find pictures and stories of our many loveable pets.  Check back often if you don't see your perfect match.  If you do see someone that melts your heart (they ALL melt your heart) AND you think might be a good fit for your family, please contact Linda at the numbers below to set up a time to visit.

Potential adopters must have a fenced yard or an enclosure to be considered.  We ask that you do come and meet your potential new family member.

It is traumatic for both adopters and the adoptee for the pet to be returned.

Remember, pets are a LOT of work and can be expensive.  They will be a part of your family for years to come.  Make sure you are ready for the time, effort and money it takes to adopt and care for a pet.  Do your research on pet ownership before you adopt!  It also helps to read articles on adopting a shelter pet before coming to visit - some pets have very different personalities in the shelter and will "settle in" when they get to a quiet home.

Cost is $98 to adopt a dog and $78 to adopt a cat.  Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, and microchip.

To set up a visit with your potential Forever Friend, call 618-943-4439 from 8am to 3pm Mon-Sat or 618-943-5368 from 6pm to 8pm Mon-Sat.  Visits can be arranged for other times, but please call during these hours and leave a message if no one answers.  Your call with be returned as soon as possible.
